How do I create the Perfect Pony?

I have medium-short hair and I want a straight, cute ponytail that looks sort of like a gymnast's. A week ago I put my hair up in a ponytail and straitened it and it looked okay, but not PERFECT. Any tips? Websites? Tutorials?
