Discuss the American movement to annex Texas between 1820 and 1945. Please answer in detail?

Despite the fact that it sounds rather idiotic, between 1820 and 1945 the Americans apparently had a movement to annex Texas. Things went well, if rather slowly, and in only 125 years Texas was successfully annexed to America and things were fantastic and people lived happy lives.
